Every week on Sunday evening when we have to commute back to Beaumont, a feeling of depression weighs on my soul. I despise that God-forsaken place with every fiber of my being, but there is a silver lining...my windowsill garden. I've mentioned before that in the fall, the Texas weather isn't very fall-like. It is becoming a little more
chilly in the evenings, but remains in the low 80's or high 70's during the day. Although I miss the lovely fall colors and weather in Utah, the weather here makes for good gardening. I planted a cherry tomato plant and a basil plant both of which have doubled in size in just three weeks. I also planted many spices: rosemary, oregano, tarragon, and more basil. Lucy has managed to eat any
tarragon that has sprouted up. The oregano and the rosemary are slow, but coming. The basil is growing like a
chia pet!!! CH-CH-CH-
CHIA!!! We're going to have basil coming out of our ears, but I don't mind. We can dry it, eat it fresh, and give some to neighbors, etc. Who doesn't like basil? I'm definitely going to have to transplant them to different pots but, they are thriving. Hooray!

There really is something about watching things grow that brings you closer to God. Even though scientists and doctors have figured out many ways to manipulate nature, they have yet to truly create a living, growing organism from scratch. What a miracle. Isn't is amazing how seeds hold life within them until the circumstances are just right. I feel that way about our baby too. How is it that there is a 2.5" tall person growing inside me? These are just two of the many reasons why I know there is a God.
Are we considered neighbors?? I like Basil :) he he he Looks like fun, I will have to try something like that when Isaac is older and not as likely to want to eat the dirt :)
ReplyDeletei am so excited to see you in a few days. you said i needed a new post. i put one up around your birthday. i'm not begging you to look at it. i'm just giving you a clue as to what it's about if you haven't seen it. have you ever been excited to go to st george? i must admit the strip malls are enticing and the influx of tweens during spring break ain't bad either, but this time i'm really really excited.
