A Utah August

Well, now that September is almost over, I think I'll blog about August. I flew home for Laura and Robert's wedding in August and stayed for most of the month. What a dream come true. In Utah there are friends, family, cheap baby clothes, no humidity, drinking fountians and garbage cans everywhere and on top of all that, everyone speaks English. It was a much needed vacation. Anyway, here is August in review.

It rained cats and dogs in the morning right after their ceremony.
But luckily it cleared up by the evening for the reception.

We were definitely sad to go. Maybe one day we'll leave in the land we love with (at least some of) the people we love.

Lincoln Tidbits

I've been doing lots of posts about Lincoln lately, but here's another one. One morning recently, I went to get him out of bed and found this:

Another time after a nap I came in and found that he was pant-less. Unfortunately the camera battery was dead for that one.

About a week ago, he was in our bathroom and had been playing in some water so his hands were wet. He slipped on our marble tile floor and went to catch himself, but his hands slipped apart and he landed right on his cheek bone. As I mentioned in a previous post, Lincoln is a master fit-thrower these days. A few hours after his first fall, he climbed up onto our bed (which is a new thing) and grabbed my scriptures. He was bound to rip some pages out so I ran to their rescue. Lincoln knew that I was going to take them away, so in anticipation he screamed, then arched his back and rolled off the bed smacking his face in the same spot on the way down. When Matt got home that evening he said, "WHAT happened to Lincoln's face???" suspecting me of child abuse. He now has quite a large bruise. This photo really doesn't do it justice.

Last but not least, many people (especially Koreans) wonder where in the world Lincoln got his blond curly hair. Matt had blond curly hair when he was little, although his baby photos are in storage so there is no proof, but here are some pics of my brother, Nick, when he was two-ish. Makes more sense, huh?

Two Months

Hard to believe, but Bennett is already 2 months old. I think that with him being the second child and all the stuff that has happened since he's been born, his first two months of his life have gone by a lot faster than Lincoln's did. It has taken me by surprise. What has taken me even more by surprise is how much he has grown. His stats are as follows:

Weight: 14 lbs 3 oz (90th Percentile)
Height: 23 inches (50th Percentile)
He is 6 lbs 4 oz heavier and roughly 1.5 inches taller. To illustrate my point, check out these photos of him a few days old versus at 2 months:

My sister, Laura, likes to call him "Chubby Dubby", making fun of his double chin. He's a little sweetheart. Matt says his nose and chin kinda make him look like a cartoon character. I kind of agree. Hopefully he'll grow into them as he gets older.

He started smiling a couple weeks ago. It is so sweet and is nice to know that he knows I exist. Many people have said that Lincoln and Bennett look a lot alike and I'd kinda say, "Whatever" cause I really do think that Bennett's nose, forehead and hair coloring are quite a bit different from Lincoln's, but when I was taking pictures of Bennett's smile, I thought to myself, "I've seen that face somewhere before". I went back into the archives (although I didn't have to dig too deep since Lincoln is only just a little over a year older than Bennett) and discovered where I had seen that face before. I don't know if it is cause they're the same age in these photos or cause they really do/will look alike, but I must admit, there is a resemblance. Lincoln is on the left, Bennett is on the right.

This has kind of turned into a post of comparisons, but to continue the trend, a few weeks after Bennett was born, I FINALLY noticed that his ears are not the same shape. Matt calls it a birth defect and blames it on me cause I wasn't very good about taking my prenatal vitamins. I'm not going to point any fingers, but it is true, his ears are different. Take a look. I flipped the image of his left ear to make the comparison easier.

Lincoln in Action

So I meant to post these videos on the last post, but forgot. So here they are:
Learning to drum from the best... Grandpa Drummin' Dawg.

While my family was here, Lincoln kept saying "digga, digga, digga" over and over and the sisters and I thought it was hilarious. Aside from the booger that I say he has, you should also take note of the chocolate caked on his teeth. You have to look closely. Classic.

Lincoln loves his new uncle, Uncle Bobby, and I think it's pretty obvious why.

Lincoln really loves music and has expanded his dance move repertoire lately. Check out his sweet moves while rockin' out with Auntie J.

Lincoln Lately

Lincoln is such a funny little stinker these days. We had a "Pajama Day" today (meaning mom was too tired to get her act together), and I followed him around with the camera a bit so you could get a "day in the life" perspective.

"Sup, mom?"

Lincoln has sure learned how to throw fits as of lately. He tenses his whole body so hard that he convulses and his face turns bright red. Just a preview of the terrible twos, I guess.

This isn't the best shot, but Lincoln loves to lick up drips. Here he is licking up drips on the couch from his sippy, which I'm OK with. When the drips happen to be on the bathroom floor or puddles in a parking lot, I'm not as approving.

While we were in Utah (which I have yet to blog about) Lincoln kept stealing Julia's water bottle with a built-in straw. He loved that thing. So when we got back here, I bought one for him. He totes it around everywhere taking a sip from time to time. It's perfect other than the fact that his water intake increase has also increased the number of diaper changes and pee-outs, and the handles keep popping off (cause he loves to drop it on the tile). This is his "Fix it, mom" face.

He is a book biter and it drives me crazy. I've put his books on a shelf up high in his room so he won't chew them to pieces, but ocassionally he gets ahold of one that was left out. Poor "Goodnight Moon"! It's had better days.

Lincoln loves to get in things, and after he does, he looks over his shoulder proudly to see if you're watching.

He loves moving things that are bigger than he is. Yep, tipped over the Exersaucer. Good thing Bennett isn't old enough to use it, yet. I guess we'll have to cross that bridge when we get there.

It really doesn't take long for his room to become a TOTAL disaster:
I love it when he discovers something new and sits very, very still to investigate. What a sweet little face, huh?
He has the funniest little feet. They are are like blocks. I wanted to get a profile shot, but my camera died right after this top view shot. Too long of a photo shoot, I guess. Matt calls Lincoln "Sponge Bob Square Feet". (Um, yeah, I know I need to clean out and trim his toenails, but it's Pajama Day, OK? Give me a break.)

Speaking of his feet, he has the weirdest pinky toenail. It has a little nubbin type thing that grows to the side of it on both feet. Matt's pinky toenails are also really demented. Grandpa Adsero, did they get this from you? Is it an Adsero Man thing? Wherever it came from it's gross:

While in Utah, I went with my mom and the boys to Deseret Book to find some pictures of Jesus and some kid's Bible and Book of Mormon books. Anyway, while I was browsing, unbeknownst to me, Licoln was busy opening a Book of Mormon action figure (Gotta love Utah!) that happened to next to him. I turn around to find that of all the 20 or so action figures available, he picked Laman!!! Laman, really? How about Nephi or Abinadi? Laman was the only bad guy other than King Noah. You break it, you bought it, so we bought Laman. Shoot! Not the action figure or role model I would have picked out for him.

Last, but not least, Lincoln's first words (which were spoken well over a month ago) are "Get Down!". That is because everytime I turn around he's standing on the window sill, the coffee table, the couch, a box etc. etc. My dad always says, "Repetition is the key to learning". So true. I will have you know that his second word is Jesus, although it sounds more like "Jeeda". I'm doing what I can to steer this guy in the right direction. Sure love him!
