I was quite excited this year about Halloween, cause I thought that Lincoln would understand a little more about what was happening. He loves candy, so he must love Halloween, right? We had been practicing saying "Trick or treat?" the whole month of October so I thought he was well prepared for the big day.
Well, I went against my better judgement and bought him a lion costume for $25 thinking that he'd love it since he's been into The Lion King lately. He did love it. He dug through all the shopping bags to find it and stroked it the whole way home in the car. Then, when I went to put it on him, he threw the biggest fit of all time. I tried for the two Halloween parties we threw to get him to wear it, but it was a no go.
The day came, and I wasn't sure what to do for a costume, so I went to a dollar store to see what they had. I found Lincoln's little pumpkin number shown above. It had an attached hat with a leaf and vine on top but I cut it off cause I didn't think he'd go for that. I got the weird green leggings at Walmart. I thought all would be well, but he threw a bigger fit than the last. What the? I wasn't going to take it off and we WERE going trick or treating. Dad got home from work at the height of the fit, but managed to calm him down with some candy seen in hand above.

Luckily Bennett was OK with wearing the lion costume so it wasn't a total waste. He might be a lion next year too since the costume is big enough. Here he is with our friend, Wynne, who we met in South Korea. She came to visit us for a few days. We love visitors!! Bennett was battling to see out of his hood all night.
No more tears! He was ready, we thought. We only went to a few houses along our street, and he ended up getting really scared at one of the houses where they were playing music. We got there between songs and when the next song started, he about had a heart attack so at every door following, Lincoln would say, "Daddy, I wanna hold you... scary". i.e. "I want you to hold me cause I'm scared". Pretty cute. Maybe next year he'll catch the vision.
Our sweet little lion. It was so funny cause after we put his costume on, Lucy was getting all excited thinking there was another dog in the house. If you watch the video at the bottom, you'll see that when he's crawling around, he really does look like an animal. We were all laughing so hard at him toddling around in that thing.
I love the LL Cool J look.
I laughed out loud at this post. Lincoln is hilarious. He's a man who knows what he does and does not like.
