Well, we're tired of the kids being our ball and chain and decided that we needed some hobbies. We got ourselves outfitted for cross country skiing this last week and went today. We rented some downhill skis for Lincoln in hopes that he could hold onto the back of the stroller (made sled) and be pulled along, but he kept getting his skis crossed and biffing it. Good thing I brought our kid carrier, so I strapped him on my back and we ditched his skis. All the kids took several turns crying. Matt only threw his poles twice and I may or may not have sworn at the dog. Matt fell, I think 3 times, and I fell once with the help of Lucy while Lincoln was on my back. Good thing I fell towards 11 o'clock instead of 6. Once we did get going (after an hour of clothing three children, then unclothing them cause they had to go "tinkles" and then reclothing them, rewaxing skis for a different temperature, arranging and rearranging children), we loved it. As we finished the day, we decided it was a lot of buck for the bang, but we'll persevere. If we can find some easier trails and leave the dog at home until we're a little better, I think we'll really enjoy our new hobby.
Such a beautiful day. Remember that coat, Dad?? I've kept it all these years and haven't lost it. Aren't you proud??
Lincoln munching on the snow while we try and re-wax our skis.
Wouldn't wear his gloves or hat. Look at those cheeks!
The rig and our sled dog out in front.
So pretty and quiet.

You did it! It looks like fun even if it wasn't. And I'm sure it will be more fun as you guys get better. Such a fun hobby!
