Nativity in the Desert

We finally made it out to the sand dunes before dark. It was very interesting to see that in the dark we had been passing bedouin villages and gazelle (Abu Dhabi means Father Gazelle) and camel farms. Such an eye opening experience. Some friends from the ward coordinated a reenactment of the nativity. The boys just loved being a part of a "big production".

I neglected to mention that a few weeks ago, we joined the fleet of minivans in the LDS church parking lot. I have resisted purchasing a minivan, but it is just so extremely functional, it sails on the highway, and gets great gas mileage.

Had to wear sweatshirts this time!

Herds of people came... so fun!!

There are a lot of African people that have joined the congregation recently. Matt is talking with Vincent next to the fire. He is from Nigeria here working in a mechanics shop. He has worked in Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Italy. He had a 2yo daughter pass away back home. People have very difficult lives that come here to work and support their families back home. We've heard lots of very sad stories.

A terrible shot of the production.

3 wisemen and their camel.

Singing Christmas carols by the fire.
