We went to the Houston Arboretum this weekend. The kids loved it. Learned all sorts of things. Did some leaf rubbings, looked at butterfly wings and snake skin under a microscope, etc. Fun and free.

We also went to the science museum on the same day and walked through the new gardens next door. The little man-made mountain might be the highest point in Houston other than buildings.
