So I dropped Bennett off at preschool, and then came out 10 minutes later to discover that my car window had been smashed, and my wallet taken. Yes, I'm an idiot for leaving my wallet on the passenger seat in plain view. I guess I thought I'd be in and out, I was parked close to the school entrance and there were lots of other parents going in and out. The school got me surveillance of the whole thing. Here's the guy trying to get my lock popped off on the drivers side. Then a mom was coming so he got back in his car (a black BMW mind you... probably stolen) and then when the coast was clear, he smashed in my passenger side window. He got $80 cash and made a $70 purchase on the internet with my card before it had a hold put on it. Our insurance covered maybe $300 in damages and then we covered the $500 deductible, which was annoying, not to mention the hassle of getting all new cards and accounts. Ugh. Lesson learned. Not leaving my valuables in the car for any length of time, ANYWHERE. Not sure I can ever be at ease or feel safe anywhere in this city!!
