Inspired

Well, I've decided that listening to conference does, in fact, bring inspiration. Some bits of inspiration are more important than others. A bit that I received this conference may be less important when it comes to matters of salvation, but was, nonetheless, important. I had thought long and hard about what to get Matt for his birthday. He has been DYING to get a 42" flat screen, but seeing how we're having a baby in T minus 5 weeks or so, and that we have recently been entertaining thoughts of buying a house, I thought that a flat screen might be a litte too pricey. Matt has also "grown out" of his suits, so I considered getting him a suit, but who knows if it'd fit or if he'd like it. Other than that, I was drawing a big blank and I was starting to get worried cause his birthday was fast approaching.

Moral of the story is, I think it was President Uchtdorf who mentioned something about receiving guidance from a GPS while driving. TA DA!!! A GPS! Matt has said several times that we should get one, but I always said that Google Maps was good enough, being the cheap skate that I am. Anyway, I got one for him. I knew that he'd love it and I couldn't wait to give it to him, so I broke down and gave it to him last night. Matt flipped his lid! He loved it! He was raving about it and kept saying "This is so cool!" over and over. Needless to say, we spent the remainder of the evening in the car testing it out. It's funny, but I really do think that I was inspired from on high. I realize that getting a GPS for Matt is not a matter of salvation, but I do believe that Heavenly Father wants us to be happy and will and does inspire us in matters both spiritual and secular. So, listen to conference. It'll make life happier.

  1. See, I thought this was going to be inspiration to live frugally and maybe not even buy a present (please don't think that I'm judging you!), so I just laughed when you had inspiration to buy a GPS. Conference was awesome.

    Happy birthday, Matt!
