A Korean Christmas

I know, I know, I haven't even blogged about Thanksgiving yet. I will, but it's just going to take too long for the time I have right now. Only a half hour of nap time left. Go, go, go!!!

So here we are on Korean Christmas. Definitely not the same feeling as real Christmas where we gather with family and friends, but it was the best we could do. We all look fine and well, but don't be deceived. Lincoln threw up 4 times during the night of Christmas Eve Eve (a.k.a. Dec. 23rd) and then from then on, he had diarrhea that was beyond description. Matt caught the bug and spent the majority of Christmas day in bed or on the pot. It was fabulous. I managed (for once) to escape the plague. Bennett, I think, had it but it is always hard to tell with babies cause they always throw up and have diarrhea. Anyway, here are the sickies takin' it easy Christmas morning:

I forgot to mention that Christmas Eve, I went out just before the Branch Party to get some last minute gifts. When I was done shopping, the car wouldn't turn on. I thought it was the battery which we had had problems with. I ended up taking a cab home with all my junk I had bought. When I finally got home, Lincoln had already fallen asleep for the night since he had spent the previous night throwing up. So, no party for us. We just wrapped presents. Boo! Matt went Christmas day to see if he could jump the car. Turns out, the car was not in park. Yep, Korean cars can turn off without being in park, but won't turn on if they're not in park. I have criticized Matt many times for doing the same thing, "How could you forget to put the car in park???", but now I've done it, so I'll keep my mouth shut from now on. Ooops!

Bennett's favorite present was the holiday ribbon:

Lincoln's favorites were the marble racer...

and the big slide and play pen turned ball pit dad insisted getting for him for Christmas despite mom's protests that the house would become more of a circus than it already is.

He loves it!!!

This photo made me realize how long Lincoln's hair was getting and so I cut off his curls and it looks even worse. I miss the curls! I'm pretty sure they'll grow back... they did last time.

Here are baby Bennett ("Beebee" as Lincoln calls him) and Lucy laying in the after Christmas morning rubble. Bennett, smiling as always. Lucy, snoozing as always.

We had planned to have the missionaries over Christmas day, but given Matt's condition, we had them over the following. We had lobster and fillet mignon as per Matt's family's tradition. The missionaries were more than pleased. Unlike in the States where you can just buy lobster tail, you have to buy the whole lobster which is live and swimming in a tank. Matt brought home a HUGE styrofoam box with 2 whole lobsters in it. He opened it up and the stank permeated our entire house. I don't think I'm so keen on the lobster tradition. Fillet mignon... ok.

Elder Hansen and Elder Hveems prior to chow down.

And that sums it up. I must admit, I much prefer the real Christmas over Korean Christmas, but we survived.
