Missy Minnie

Miss Minnie Isabella, the most recent addition to the Mecham Clan, arrived Aug. 13th 2011. It seems strange that my little sister has a baby now, but I'm so happy for them! Laura let me come to the hospital with her and Robert. Robert called after they had given Laura an epidural and broke her water. I knew that after my water broke with both babies, it was a done deal. My mom and I rushed up to the hospital cause I didn't want to miss a thing. When we arrived, this was the scene we came upon. 

Laura snoozing through her contractions. We got there at around 11 AM or so, maybe 12. Laura had to be induced cause Minnie was 10 or so days overdue. Turns out that Minnie was chin up or "OP" as they say, so she was having a hard time fitting through Laura's bone structure. They tried moving Laura into different positions and upping the Pit dosage, but nothing seemed to be working. We waited and waited, and waited, but no baby, and no baby, and no baby. At around 6 or so, they decided it was C-section time so Robert suited up:

Laura had an anxiety and claustrophobia attack just prior to the surgery. Here the anesthesiologist is trying to talk her through it. Robert gave her a blessing, I fanned her for a bit with a tray from the cafeteria and then it was go time.

Baby Minnie (or Baby Mouse or Minnie Mouse as Lincoln calls her) didn't breathe right away so she had to be monitored for a bit in the NICU, but she was fine.

Blue Feet

This is the first time Laura got to hold her after Laura had been all stitched up. I know she hates this photo cause she says her nose gets all red and Rudolf-like when she cries, but I think it's sweet.

Finally dad gets to hold her. I love her cute little face peeking over the blanket.

Then the rest of the crew came to visit.

I love this photo, cause we were all laughing cause Nick wasn't sure what to do with his other hand. I suggested he slip it into his pocket and act too cool for school.
