A few funnies

I have been meaning to write down a few funny things about the kids, and haven't gotten around to it until now. I need to do better than make mental notes, cause I think I've already forgotten many of them, but I'll try to remember what I can.

Firstly, we have invested in zoo passes this year, and we've been to the zoo probably 10 times thus far.  Lincoln and Bennett LOVE it there, but one thing Lincoln really doesn't like are the peacocks. They roam around the zoo freely, so you never know where they're going to be. Many times you won't see them, and they squawk from a top a roof or around a corner and scare you to death. Any time Lincoln sees one, he'll cover his ears (which is what he does when he is afraid of anything) and scoot by as fast as possible. Matt has tried to use this fear of peacocks to our advantage. Whenever Lincoln isn't listening and heading off in a direction we don't want him to go, Matt tells him that he better watch out cause there are peacocks over there. Last Sunday, Lincoln and Bennett were trying to go on the stage in the cultural hall at church. Matt didn't want them up there so he told them there was a peacock hiding on the stage. They both did a quick about face. Then a little girl in our ward came walking through the gym, and Lincoln ran up and told her to watch out cause there was a peacock on the stage. She said, "Really???", very curious and wanting to see the peacock. Matt had to confess his lies to her. Too funny.

Bennett picks up on new vocabulary so quickly, but sometimes he doesn't get it quite right, and I think it's so cute. Yesterday, we were driving somewhere and Matt had to drive separately cause he was headed elsewhere afterwards. The kids were upset that he didn't get in the car with us. I reassured them that daddy was in his car and he was driving behind us. When we got to our destination, and Matt showed up, Bennett got a huge grin on his face and said, "Daddy, you are "hind" (as in behind us)".

Bennett and Lincoln I think have Hand, Food and Mouth Disease. I thought Lincoln just had Thrush, but now Bennett has spots on his hands. We sent them to nursery today. Oooops! I guess I don't feel that badly, cause that's probably where they picked it up in the first place, right? Anyway, I was talking to Matt about how it was a virus and we just had to let it run its course. Bennett was listening to us, and said, "Daddy, it's a virus", like he really knew what he was saying and was educating Matt on the subject.

Since it's summer time, there have been a lot of people running, blading or biking without shirts on. Lincoln is quite fascinated by that and every time he sees someone without a shirt on, he grins and says, "Mommy (in almost a shocked tone), HE doesn't have a shirt on!! He's nakies!".

Lincoln's friend, Hannah, has long hair, and at every chance Lincoln will fluff or stroke her hair. My hair is his comfort object and loves to play with it as we're snuggling before he falls asleep. Is hairdressing in his future? We'll see.

There are so many more things that I can't remember. There will probably be a part two and three to this post.
