Camping... finally.

Things have been boring and lonely much of this summer, and I feel like after paying my dues with all that winter and no spring, I really haven't made much of the summer with Matt being away at site so often. I had the itch to make some memories this last weekend, so, we went camping. We went to Sheep River Provincial Park. It was really fun, and beautiful. The kids loved it. I think the flashlights were the biggest hit, the fire next, the marshmallows after that, and then sleeping in the tent (especially with Lucy), was all very fascinating. They're such cute little buggers. It's so fun to watch them do new things, and listen to their commentary about the new things they are doing. Before we went to bed, we just sat by the fire together for a while. Of course we could see a million stars. Matt was holding Bennett and I had Lincoln on my lap. Bennett was leaning back, and Matt pointed out all the stars. The sky was just filled. Bennett got really excited and said, "What do the stars do?", and Lincoln said, "They twinkle, Benny", and then Bennett started singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star". Pretty cute. We had Bennett sleeping in an upper corner of the tent and then Lucy at his feet. We were kind of on a slant, and so Bennett kept encroaching on Lucy's space. I woke up several times in the night, and one time I saw Lucy had her chin resting on Benny's bum. So cute. My heart just filled with gratitude. All my little and big buddies, all in one claustrophobic tent under the stars.

Packing up. Can you believe we all fit in there?

Staying warm. It was in the 40's and you could see your breath when we woke up.

Daylight begins around 6 or something, and since we didn't put the rainfly on, Lucy could see all the squirrels in the trees. She softly whimpered to herself as the squirrels mocked her. Aside from myself, and Lucy, Bennett was the first to stir. He got up on his knees and then as he realized where he was, a smile came across his face and he said, "We in a tent!!". Lincoln woke up soon thereafter, but wanted to keep sleeping. Benny wouldn't stop his little chatter box, so sleeping in was not an option. After we had breakfast and packed up camp, we drove to a trail head. On the way there, Lincoln said, "Let's go lay down in the tent and take a nap". That is one of the first times he has requested to take a nap. I was tired too. Camping 8 months preggo in a small, crowded tent is not the ideal sleeping situation. Anyway, we had fun.

Proof I was pregnant and there.

COOKIES!!!!

I love camping!

Lincoln liked hiding in these little clusters of trees. "His" forests.

Beautiful, clear water. The boys loved throwing rocks in.

We hiked for about 20 minutes, but there were too many potential long falls into the river for my liking, so this is where we turned around.
