So the High Priests were in charge of this year's Chili Cook-Off, so Matt did quite a bit with the preparations. He wanted there to be a trophy for the winner. I wanted to make one out of recyclables but Matt had a greater vision. He started digging through boxes, and conveniently, the only trophies he could find were mine, and not his. He begged me to sacrifice a trophy for a greater cause. I decided that I could part with my "Most Promising Young Runner" trophy from my freshman year. He also begged me to part with my chili pepper lights. I hadn't used them since college, so I agreed. Then he told me of his vision and left it to me to execute it. This is what we came up with. The light is a fake tea candle that flickers that we had in our pumpkins. You can turn it on and off. I ripped the "9" off the trophy where it said "96" and just left the "6" so it would say "6th Ward". I did the rest writing with hot glue and then spray painted it gold. I blacked out my name and award on the black plate and did the "Best Chili Overall" engraving with my dremel. Matt and I laughed hard at the final product. We hope it stays in the ward for years to come.
I am insanely impressed. Only you...only you. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteOh...and your beloved chili pepper lights? You really are a trophy wife to give those puppies up that you have loved for so long.
