The other day, Bennett said, "Mom, look at me," as he attempted to smooth and flatten his afro multiple times with his hands, "I'm Lincoln!". Then he put his hands an inch from the top of his head to ascertain the height of his hair. He could still feel it after all his hard work, so he shrugged his shoulders and said, "Hmm... my hair is still curly". That's what I say every time I "straighten" my hair too. He's got the curse that Grandma Adsero would count as a blessing.
When he was chatting with Matt in the car the other day, Bennett said, "Dad, I'm a kid. I'm a CURLY kid". So true.
A rap song came on while we were driving in the car and Lincoln said, "This is not music". I think Uncle Nick would disagree, Lincoln.
Our ward hosted a Family Fun Run this last Saturday. The boys ran (and actually did a very good job) the 1K, and Matt and I ran the 5K. Lincoln was very excited about the race and kept up with the 7 and 8 year old kids for much of the time. When he just couldn't run anymore (maybe 400 m into it), he looked up at me with a very defeated, sad face. His cheeks were more pink than I have ever seen them. He huffed and puffed, and coughed a little and told me he thought he was getting sick. He looked like he was going to cry cause he really wanted to finish, but didn't see how it was possible. I told him we could walk a little bit and try to catch up when he had rested a bit. He brightened right up, and hope filled his soul again. So cute. He walk/jogged the rest of the way. At the finish line, they put out a ribbon for each kid to break as they crossed the finish line. The crowd was cheering each kid in as they became visible. Matt said that Bennett, who was about 250 m behind Lincoln, was telling Matt that his tummy and his knee hurt. Then Matt pointed out the finish line and that the people were cheering him on. He said "Oh!!" and then buzzed all the way to the finish line. Both Lincoln and Bennett went under, rather than through the ribbon.
We went to the zoo with our friends, the Caballeros, this last week. Lincoln kept begging Hannah to hold his hand. She said that she didn't want to, but that he could walk next to her. Lincoln started to tear up. Hannah's mom, Mary-Ellen, insisted that she hold his hand. Here's Lincoln recovering from a broken heart, and Hannah being less than excited about being required to hold his hand.
And to finish it off, a cute little giggle from LDπ.

actual LOLs.
ReplyDeleteI was just reading through my journal from when we were in guam and recalled having my heart melt when Lincoln said, "Julia, I like you. This is fun. " Also enjoyed the bit where Bennett said, "Watch my toy do. Look at his bow staff. " Love those boys.
ReplyDeleteLittle cuties! Those outtakes are killer. p.s. your new font is really hard to read on my computer. Maybe if it were a little bigger?? Either way I'll read your blog. I just have to copy and paste it into Word to read it. LOVE YOU!
